Spanish & Tango
Many people say that the energetic pulse of this unique city comes from its strong musical tradition. In fact, in some people’s minds, Buenos Aires is synonymous with the tango. As a Spanish & Tango student, you can get to know the true culture of Argentina, not only by studying its language, but also by learning this passionate dance.
The course includes the following:
20 hours of group Spanish class (4 students maximum)
6 hours of group tango class.
1 práctica (a chance to dance, with teachers available for questions)
1 90-minute private lesson.

Total Tango
For students looking for the total tango experience, we offer the "Total Tango Tag-On" which includes the following:
In-depth cultural lecture on the history of tango
Visit to the Museo Vivo del Tango
Full-course lunch at the tango-bar Milonguera, accompanied by your Spanish teacher
Full-course gourmet dinner including open-bar cocktail hour with live entertainment, followed by a spectacular dance show at Michaelangelo
A tango shopping trip to buy new tango shoes and attire
A night out at an authentic milonga to try out your new tango shoes

Whichever program you choose, our tango courses are sure to sweep you off your feet!

Spanish & Art
This course promises to be a treat whether you have in depth experience studying art or are a novice simply curious about Argentine art. All activities are conducted in Spanish so some basic knowledge of the language is recommended.
The following activities are included during the first week of your program:
20 hours of group Spanish class (4 students maximum)
1 lecture on Argentine art history.
4 guided visits to the most important art museums in Buenos Aires, accompanied by your Spanish teacher.  Museums include the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and the MALBA (Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires), just to name a few.

Additional weeks include 20 hours of group Spanish class and 2 guided visits to museums per week, accompanied by your Spanish teacher. This is ideal for students who want a more complete experience, as it will allow you to discover some of the lesser-known, but equally interesting museums of the city. Of course, we always try to tailor the visits to your particular interests. Get ready to discover Argentina through its art!.

Spanish & History
For those of you looking to learn more about the history of Argentina, this course is just for you. In addition to your 20 hours of group Spanish class per week, you will have 2 hours per day of private instruction focusing on the history of Argentina. Lessons will be based on assigned readings which require a high-intermediate level of Spanish proficiency.

Spanish & Cuisine
This add-on is great for students looking to try some of the different typical dishes of Argentina, while still practicing their Spanish with a teacher! You will have a chance to try Argentina's famous "parrillada" (barbecue), cuisine from the North such as "locro," a typical milanesa, and of course the delicious Italian cuisine found all over the city.

Spanish Through Music
If you love music, this program will prove a fun and entertaining way to improve your Spanish.  Every day you will focus on a different well-known South American song, which will act as a springboard for conversation and practice! The course is composed of a variety of musical genres (pop, national rock, tango, folklore, etc.) and covers a wide variety of lexical, grammatical, and cultural topics.

Each lesson was specially designed for use in the Spanish as a foreign language classroom. This a fun and effective way to sharpen your listening and speaking skills, while immersing yourself in the musical traditions of South America.

Textbook : Canciones del Sur para aprender español, Ediciones Voces del Sur, 2006.

Note: Students must have a high-intermediate level of Spanish or higher to take this course. This program can be added to a regular Spanish course or, in the case of the intensive program, taken in place of a regular Spanish course.

CELU Preparation
The CELU (Certificado de Español Lengua y Uso) is the only Spanish proficiency exam recognized by the Argentine Ministry of Education. The exam measures the ability to communicate in Spanish in “real-life” situations, and the certificate is of great value for those who plan to attend a Spanish university or work in Spanish-speaking environments.

The CELU test preparation course combines intensive general Spanish classes in the morning with one-on-one preparation sessions in the afternoon. The preparation sessions will familiarize students with the exam format and allow them to practice activities similar to those required by the test including listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The CELU is administered twice a year, generally in May and in November. Please contact BridgeAbroad for specific course dates.

This program is offered through Volunteer Adventures, a BridgeAbroad sister organization. For more information, please visit the Argentina Volunteer Programs page.
