The capital of Chile, Santiago is nestled in a valley at the
foot of the picturesque Andes. The bustling metropolis is an
interesting blend of contrasts: colonial architecture and modern
skyscrapers, lively street scenes and quiet parks, elegant shopping
and local street markets. In Santiago, you will find the charm
and culture of Latin America with all the amenities of the first
world. The city is clean, safe and efficient, and its six million
residents are very friendly and hospitable to foreigners.
Santiago is ideally located in the center of the country. This
makes it a nearly perfect base from which to visit northern
and southern Chile, as well as to see the sights of the central
region. In less than an hour and a half in either direction,
you can be strolling on the coast of the Pacific Ocean or skiing
in the snowcapped Andes. With plenty of recreational options,
striking natural beauty, and the conveniences of a modern capital
city, Santiago makes a great location to study Spanish abroad.

Established in 1990, our Spanish language school in Santiago is located in the
neighborhood of Providencia, which is a combination of modern,
high-rise buildings and quiet, tree-lined residential streets.
It is just a few blocks from the main avenue 11 de Septiembre,
where Spanish students will find many sidewalk cafes, plenty of shopping
opportunities, as well as the metro stop “Los Leones.”
Just a five-minute walk from the Spanish school is one of the city’s
most popular night spots, Suecia, where there are some 50 restaurants
and nightclubs located within a five-square-block area.
Inside the school you will find clean, modern facilities. The
three-story building has 17 classrooms with TVs and DVD players,
central heat and air-conditioning, a lovely terrace, and computers
with free Internet. All teachers are native Spanish speakers,
have university degrees, and have been extensively trained in
the school’s effective language instruction methodology.

Practice your spanish while exploring Santiago and its environs.
Santiago has much to offer the inquisitive traveler. In a city
that holds a third of the country’s population, you are
bound to find many interesting places to visit and things to
see. We offer a variety of afternoon excursions, guided by a
Spanish teacher and included in your course.
Excursions provide an excellent opportunity for you to practice
your Spanish and to learn more about Santiago and Chile. Excursions
are provided as a courtesy, but students are expected to pay
for their own transportation and entrance fees. Occasionally
a day trip is arranged that will replace classes (upon student
request only). Some of the excursions we offer are described
below.

lawns with excellent vistas.
|
|
| You will
then take the teleférico to the top where
you’ll be treated to a magnificent view of
Santiago stretching out between the Andes and the
coastal Cordillera. To return, you’ll take
the funicular down to the bohemian barrio of Bellavista,

| “I
think that Bridge-Linguatec’s method of teaching
is the most effective way to truly master a foreign language.
The staff was very professional and more than accommodating.
It was very helpful to have multiple teachers every day
who brought with them an immense variety of experience
and ability. I am grateful to have had this great learning
experience in Santiago!”

found my experience at Bridge-Linguatec to be very positive.

and concerned about my progress. I loved Chile and the
people here I had the pleasure to come to know.”

Beth Schatzman

|
| ”I
chose Bridge-Linguatec because of their use of technology
and their reputation for having other professionals
as students. I found both to be true. The fact that
Bridge-Linguatec was in Chile was just a bonus. What
other country has so much to offer? Chile is fantastic,
it’s beautiful—from the beaches to the mountains,
both [reachable] via a short bus ride from the school.
The people are warm and friendly, very patient with
foreigners. I certainly got more than I bargained for
in this program!” |

Tom Pope

|
| “The
program is intense. While in the classroom, be prepared
to learn at a steady pace and to concentrate. If you
apply what is being taught and you take advantage of
the methodology, you will be amazed how much you will
learn in a relatively short time.” |

completely enjoyed the course. The immersion program
was great and I learned more than I ever thought I could
in two weeks. Everyone here is extremely patient with
the students and interested in their progress. I am
going to recommend to my university to use Bridge-Linguatec
