Sámara |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| |
Sámara lies on the northern Pacific Coast of Guanacaste
and boasts three miles of white sand in a protected coral reef
bay. The beach is dotted with restaurants (serving fresh-caught
seafood, refreshing smoothies, and other local specialties)
as well as bars, discos, and even an art gallery exhibiting
work by local artists. The tranquil ocean is ideal for swimming,
diving, snorkeling, and surfing. Other activities at Sámara
include horseback riding, deep-sea fishing, dolphin watching,
waterfall visits, and canopy tours.
And the town’s recreational options expand into the
surrounding region. Within close proximity of Sámara
are tropical forests containing exotic wildlife, the Nicoya
region with its remnants of the Chorotega indigenous culture,
and the deserted Isla Chora— a short kayak trip away—perfect
for snorkeling and sunbathing. It’s easy to see why
Sámara is a favorite vacation spot for Costa Ricans
and visitors from around the world, and a wonderful place
to enhance your Spanish.

Kimberly Arena
Bilingual Teacher and Guidance
Counselor |
|
| “I found
[the school’s] courses to be equivalent or superior
to university level Spanish courses in the U.S. I appreciated
the small class size, the professional, intensive instruction
along with the individual attention given to each student." |
Marie-Claude Perrault
Management Consultant |
|
| “The
beach campus is absolutely amazing. Located in Samara,
a small typical beach village, you will quickly feel at
home and have countless opportunities to meet local new
friends to practice your Spanish. Make sure you also visit
the amazing natural sites this small country has to offer:
national parks, beautiful beaches, coffee plantations
and spectacular volcanoes. Go and see for yourself why
Costa Rica is also called the Switzerland of Central America.'' |
Tracy Hicks
University Student |
|
| "I was
very impressed with the professional manner in which the
school was run. Both the teachers and directors were very
accommodating in tailoring a program to fit my specific
skills and needs. The classes were demanding and interesting,
and after class, having fun with the cultural activities
was the high point of my day! My experiences with both
the school and the [homestay] family were exceptional." |
| Roger Edwards |
|
| "Thank
you all for such an exciting and rewarding experience.
It really did my heart and soul good to escape the hectic
culture of the United States and to experience the charm
and friendliness of [Costa Rica]. I was thoroughly impressed
by my instructors and all the staff. I felt that my Spanish
really improved in the short time I was there. I know
your program was effective because, by the second week,
I could feel myself beginning to think a little in Spanish.
This was an exciting feeling! As a result of my stay in
Costa Rica, I have begun to understand the true meaning
of 'Pura Vida'." |
Sherman Fein
Honorary Consul of Costa Rica |
|
| “[The
school] is a well-organized and well-run academic institution
providing an excellent environment and high-quality training
[in the Spanish language]. I feel comfortable recommending
[this institution] with great enthusiasm." |
Gerald Scholefield
Superintendent of Schools
(retired) |
|
| "I retired
after 30 years in education in Canada: as a teacher, school
principal, and superintendent responsible for several
schools. From this perspective I was most impressed with
[this institution] when I studied Spanish there recently.
The teachers of Spanish are knowledgeable, skillful, enthusiastic
and caring. The classes are small and the students dedicated
to learning. Moreover, the school "climate"
is happy, warm, and supportive…I would rate the
school and its services as outstanding." |
