Canopy
Tour
This tour starts at the forest edge and after a
short hike, you climb to the first of a series of
platforms that are 20 to 30 meters high. After being
harnessed to cables, you traverse along the forest
canopy for a bird’s eye view of the magnificent
rainforest. This trip provides amazing photo opportunities
and the chance to see some of Costa Rica’s
exotic wildlife.
Guaitil
This town is famous for its artisan ceramic work,
much of which is based on pre-Columbian designs.
The "pueblo" of Guaitil is a 40-minute
drive from Flamingo and is a great place to purchase
souvenirs.
Sunset
Cruise
Take a cruise of the islands surrounding the Flamingo
area. You’ll be able to sit back, breathe
in the salt air and watch the beautiful sunset from
the deck of a sailboat.
Rincón
de la Vieja Volcano
An active volcano only two hours from Flamingo,
Rincon de la Vieja is known for its hot water and
mud pools at the volcano base. During this guided
tour the group learns about the vegetation and animal
life native to this ecosystem while hiking along
trails near the volcano.
Santa Rosa National Park
The excursion to Rincon de la Vieja can be extended
with a trip to Santa Rosa National Park. After you
visit the Rincón, you will spend the evening
in Liberia, the capital of Guanacaste, and in the
morning the group leaves for Santa Rosa. Classified
as a dry forest, Santa Rosa is Costa Rica's first
national park and offers a selection of hiking trails
within the forest (some lead to the coastline where
visitors can swim in the crystal blue waters of
the Pacific). In addition to over 250 species of
birds, animals seen in the reserve include: deer,
anteaters, over 50 species of bats, and howler,
spider and white-faced monkeys. Within the park
is La Casona, a museum rich with historical importance;
it was here where Costa Rica defended its independence
against the North American colonizer, William Walker.
Monteverde
Experience the Monteverde Cloud Forest during this
two-day trip. The first day, you’ll tour the
Finca Ecologica to see the flora and fauna native
to the region. In the evening, you can take a night
tour of the Monteverde Cloud Reserve in order to
see the nocturnal wildlife that is hidden during
the day.
The following
day, the group will participate in the Sky Trek,
a fascinating combination of canopy tour and a hanging
bridge tour. You’ll get to glide along zip
lines from platform to platform and view the forest
from above. A real adventure!
