Manuel Antonio’s unique location allows students to learn
in one of the world’s most beautiful tropical destinations.
During your time in Costa Rica, you will not only learn Spanish,
but also be fully immersed in the culture and surroundings.
Each week, the school plans activities in which all students
are invited to participate. Offerings include dance lessons,
cooking classes, literature and film discussions, and intercambios
(exchanges) with local Spanish speakers. Off-campus, you can
take advantage of a variety of activities and excursions, some
of which are described below.
Beach Activities
You can fish, swim, snorkel, dive, rent boogie and
surf boards, or enjoy any number of activities on
Manuel Antonio’s gorgeous beaches.
Sports
Students are always welcome to take advantage of
the area’s beautiful natural surroundings
by engaging in a variety of athletic activities,
such as a bike ride along the beach or a game of
soccer—the country’s most popular sport.
Town
Activities
The nearby town of Quepos is only two miles away,
and easily accessible by bus or taxi. The small
village center is home to restaurants, bars, hotels,
bakeries, art galleries and gift shops, as well
as the famous nightclub Arco Iris, where visitors
from all over come for entertainment and dancing
on the beachfront property.
Manuel
Antonio National Park Tour
Visit the park with a native tour guide who will
show you why the rainforest is one of the world’s
greatest treasures. The guide will lead you on an
informative tour through the greenery while explaining
the history behind the area, as well as pointing
out unique native plants and animals. After the
tour, visitors are allowed to stay in the park and
explore the wonders of the rainforest.
White
Water Rafting
Take a trip to Costa Rican back country and plunge
into the adventure of white water rafting. On this
full- or half-day excursion, experienced and novice
rafters will enjoy the fast-paced trips down the
Naranjo or Savegre Rivers. Trips include transportation,
meals, and an experienced guide who will take you
down the exhilarating river and point out the natural
wonders of the jungle.
During the Savegre
trip, you’ll stop in the little town of Rio
Blanco, as well as visit some beautiful waterfalls
and remote swimming holes in the area. This lush
and shady area is likened to the Garden of Eden,
and leaves visitors grateful for the experience.
Dolphin
Watch
Marvel at the jagged rock formations and towering
cliffs of the mysterious islands just off the nearby
coast. During this guided boat tour, you will be
on the lookout for sea life such as dolphins and
whales, as well as viewing nesting grounds of native
marine birds. You’ll also learn interesting
facts about the national park and the history of
Quepoa Indians. By evening, your day-long journey
will be capped off with the splendor of the off-shore
sunset.
Scuba
Diving
The abundance and variety of marine life off the
coast of Manuel Antonio and Quepos makes it a sanctuary
for scuba divers and snorkelers. During your time
in the area, you are invited to experience this
beautiful underground fortune. You can see humpback
