In order to expose students to the natural beauty of Ecuador’s
landscape and culture, this school offers three full-day excursions
per month on Saturdays. These trips typically leave school at
9 a.m. and return at 5 p.m.
Ingapirca
The most important archeological ruins in the country,
Ingapirca was the center of the Incan Empire in
Ecuador. Students can marvel at the advanced architectural
and astronomical technology of this ancient civilization.

Gualaceo
and Chordeleg
These adjacent villages near Cuanca are famous for
their markets, jewelry, and handicrafts including
leather goods, woven shawls, and embroidery. In
addition to shopping for unique souvenirs to bring
home, students on this excursion can sample traditional
cuisine and visit the ethnographic museum in the
pre-Incan town of Chordeleg.
Chorro
de Giron
Hike through the mountainous jungle and get spectacular
views of peaks, valleys, and exotic wildlife on
your way to the beautiful Chorro de Giron waterfall.
Only 30 miles (48 kilometers) from Cuenca, this
excursion is a wonderful way to explore the diverse
terrain of Ecuador on a day-trip from Cuenca.
El
Cajas National Park
A picturesque mountain park in the highlands of
Ecuador, El Cajas is renowned for its biodiversity.
It boasts over 250 lakes and lagoons as well as
a wealth of wildlife, including condors, pumas,
toucans and tapirs. The park provides visitors with
excellent opportunities for hiking, horseback riding,
bird watching, and photography.
