Wine Course
The Bordeaux Wine Course is a highlight of the Bordeaux
school. This program has been designed for all wine
lovers, both professionals and amateurs, seeking
to combine a French learning experience with the
pleasures of some of the most outstanding wines
of France. The course is conducted in French and
translated into English by a professional wine taster
at
L'Ecole
du Bordeaux, run by Chateau Lynch-Bages.
By tasting some of the greatest vintages of the
Bordeaux classics you will learn the "art of
tasting." You will also be introduced to some
of the up-and-coming wines in the region. Whatever
your favorites, you will be invited by the professionals
to discover some of the most prestigious chateaux
in the world! At the end of the course you will
have acquired an extensive knowledge of Bordeaux
wines and be tested on your wine tasting ability
to receive a certificate.
One-week course offered each afternoon from Monday
to Friday.
Includes 22 group lessons of general French, 15
wine and tasting lessons, two excursions to chateaux,
materials, and a certificate.
Six-12 participants, but can be tailored for larger
groups.
French
for Business
Centered on the business world, this course is geared
to suit the specific requirements of executives
and business people. The main goal is for students
to achieve a substantial level of competence when
speaking French in work situations. It covers topics
such as reports, business and product presentations,
negotiations, commercial correspondence, job presentations,
commercial or financial current events, and speech
preparation.
Includes 22 group lessons of general French + 10
private lessons of business French per week.
Students should have at least an elementary level
of French.
Starts any Monday.
Minimum of one week.
French
Culture & Gastronomy
Through this summer program you will learn not only
the beautiful French language, but much about the
region of Bordeaux and is unique cultural and gastronomical
offerings.
Includes 22 group lessons of general French per
week and six activities/lessons such as a town visit
with an art history teacher, a meal in a fine restaurant,
wine and cheese sampling at Baud et Millet, excursion
to Arcachon
(village by the bay), oyster tasting, and French
cuisine lessons.
All levels of French are welcome.
Course dates in 2005 are July 18 to July 29 or August
1 to August 12.
Two-week course.
French
& History of Art
This summer program combines French lessons in the
morning and art history in the afternoon. Four principal
periods will be studied: Greek, medieval (roman,
gothic), modern, and contemporary (impressionism,
futurism, cubism).
Includes 22 group lessons of general French per
week and eight activities/lessons such as art museums,
debates, and lectures.
All levels of French are welcome.
Two-week course.
Exam
Preparation
For those students who would like to prepare their
French for official purposes, the Bordeaux school
offers exam preparation courses for several different
tests such as the DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en
Langue Française Premier Degré, given
by the French Ministry of Education,) DFA (an exam
delivered by the Paris Chamber of Commerce,) TEF
(Test d'Evaluation de
Francais
given by the Paris Chamber of Commerce,) TCF (Test
de Connaissance du Français, also given by
the French Ministry of National Education,) and
the A Level (the public examination for British
students.)

Teen
Summer Program - Biarritz (ages 15 - 17)
Offered in the summer, this course provides students
aged 15-17 a remarkable chance to study French in
the beach-front city of Biarritza peaceful
haven nestled between the Pyrenees Mountains and
the Atlantic Ocean. In addition to daily French
classes, the school provides local excursions, sports,
and cultural activities. Students live with two
or three
other students in a local French host familywhich
encourages the development of French skills in a
warm and friendly social atmosphere.

Summer Program - French Riviera (ages 11 - 15)
Offered in the summer, this course provides students
age 11-15 an unforgettable opportunity to study
French in the town of Le Pradet on the French Riviera.
In addition to daily French classes, the school
provides local excursions, sports, and cultural
activities. Students live with other French teenagers
in a nearby family, which French
skills
in a warm and friendly social atmosphere.
