Learn Spanish in La Ceiba |
| |
| |
| |
| |
| |
A relatively young city, La Ceiba got its name from a huge Ceiba tree that was next to the beach and provided shade to locals and workers at the dock during the afternoon. La Ceiba has long been the operation hub of the Standard Fruit Company, producers of bananas, pineapples, grapefruits, and the other tropical fruits that Honduras exports. Despite being the third largest city in Honduras, La Ceiba has a small-town warmth and charm that makes it a safe and welcoming place to learn Spanish. It is located on the north coast of Honduras, bordered by the Caribbean Sea and by a lush and mountainous rainforest.

La Ceiba Weather |
There are two basic seasons in Honduras: "Verano" (summer) which is actually the dry season, and is roughly from December through May. And "Invierno" (winter) which is the rainy season running from June through November. Although these seasons are generally true for all of Honduras, they are more significant and predictable in central, southern and western Honduras. The average daily temperatures rank between 80º to 90º F (27º to 32º C). |

Cayos Cochinos
Lying just a few miles off the coast of La Ceiba, the Cayos Cochinos can usually be seen from the beach on a clear day. The Cayos Cochinos are a group of two small islands and thirteen small coral cays situated near the northern shores of Honduras. Cayos Cochinos forms part of the world's second largest barrier reef system, known as the Meso-American Barrier Reef, and has been identified |

| by the Smithsonian Institute, The Nature Conservancy, the World Wildlife Fund, and the World Bank as one of the key sections of the barrier reef system to preserve. Cayos Cochinos is part of the Bay Islands, which also include Utila, Roatan and Guanaja. |
