The school in Rome organizes a full and varied program
of social activities and excursions. The aim of the program
is to ensure that students have every opportunity to practice
the language, get a better understanding of the culture and
at the same time make friends and have fun. The school offers
the following activities and excursions.
Students’
Club
The basement of the building is dedicated to the
Students' Club. This is where students have access
to the TV, a piano, and plenty of room to socialize.
The Students' Club is also where many other organized
social events take place.
Seminars
Every week, outside normal class time, seminars
are held on subjects like literature, history, regions
and towns in Italy, Italian cinema, Italian cooking,
and Italian wine. These seminars help familiarize
students with Italian culture, and further immerse
them in the Italian language.
Social Events
The activities calendar is always packed with things
to do. Activities include films, concerts, operas,
guided tours, parties, dinners and more. This is
a great opportunity for students to meet other students
and continue practicing their language skills. A
calendar of social events is given to each student
upon entry to the school.
Naples
The third largest city in France, Naples is not
only home to Mt. Vesuvius, but also to highly treasured
ancient artifacts like those in the Museo Archeologico
Naziolnale. The city also houses some of the great
16th and 17th century architecture like the Castel
Nuovo and the Palazzo Reaole. Of course, Naples
is also known for having invented pizza, and it
can't be visited without a trip to one of the hundreds
of authentic pizzerias and Neopolitan restaurants.
Pompeii
Pompeii and Herculaneum were tragically buried in
the blast of the volcano on Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D.
However, this eruption inadvertently preserved some
of the modern world’s only examples of ancient Roman
daily life. Because of many excavations in the old
city, visitors can see examples of ancient Roman
art, architecture and lifestyle.
Visitors
here will be able to visit the Forum, the preserved
center of city life, the House of the Faun, the
House of Vetti, and the oldest standing amphitheater
in the world.
Siena
The entrance to this city’s gate welcomes visitors
with the inscription “Cor Magis Tibi Siena Pandit,”
or “Siena opens its heart to you wider than this
gate.” The hospitality and history here are unlike
any other in Italy. As a lovely, walled-in city
between Florence and Rome, Siena is a preserve for
some of the best medieval architecture in the country.
Tivoli
and Villa Adriana
Tivoli is located to the east of Rome on the Aniene
River in the Monti Tiburtini hills. Historically,
this town was a stopping point on the Roman trading
route, as well as where wealthy Romans built their
summer homes. Now Tivoli and its surrounding villas
house famous Roman antiques and also offer the opportunity
to bathe in natural thermal springs.
Visitors
often choose to go to nearby Villa Adriana, famous
for its extensive size and collection of antiques.
The glorious grounds of Villa Adriana include lakes,
fountains, libraries, baths, temples, gardens, and
underground passages.
Assisi
As the birthplace of St. Francis, this revered town
is located in the hills of Umbria about an hour's
drive from Rome. Besides being considered a holy
city, Assisi is also known for its peaceful atmosphere
and beautiful landscape. One of the most noteworthy
monuments in Italy, the Basilica of San Francesco,
resides in Assisi, as do the churches of St. Peter
and St.
Claire.
People come from all over the world to find peace
and spiritual awakening in the holy sites of Assisi.
