Rome |

| |
Rome embodies the heart and mind of Western Civilization. Great
empires rose and fell here, and each has left its distinct mark
on the Eternal City.
Rome extends its reach across seven hills, each with architecture
and art found nowhere else in the world. The Roman Forum hosts
ancient architecture from the reign of Julius Caesar, and the
nearby Palatine Hill is where the Coliseum and Nero's Domus
Aurea have stood for ages. In the Centro Storico, the first
century Pantheon is within walking distance from the gothic
Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, where Michelangelo's works can be
seen. Rome also lays claim to Vatican City, the famous and revered
quarters of the Catholic Church, St. Peter's Basilica and the
Sistine Chapel. Each distinctive district of Rome is filled
with famous museums full of artwork from every century.
In between the museums and monuments, Rome is rich with unique
neighborhoods, restaurants and cafés. Italian fare can
be found around every corner and near every historic site, and
visitors can't resist pairing their dishes with a famous Italian
wine. The Roman experience is never complete without seeing
the city lit up at night, during a night out at a club or at
a wine and dessert bar.
The glorious city of Rome overwhelms visitors with options for
day and nighttime, and of course it's easy to spend weeks here
and still not see everything. Those who study in Rome will not
only get to know the historical traits of the city, but also
the modern lifestyle and attitude of the Italians who grace
the ancient city today.
