Venice |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| |
Venice is one of the most unique and popular cities in the world.
It is completely surrounded by water and has over 150 canals
through which the city's lifeblood flows. Everyone, from street
cleaners to tourists, must use a boat to get around, creating
a fun and unique experience for visitors. Its most famous waterway
is the Grand Canal which runs through the middle of the city,
and the adjacent avenue is often referred to as the most beautiful
street in all of Venice. Here you can hop on one of the vaporetti
(water buses) or motoscafi (water taxis) to get around. Of course,
you cannot leave Venice without a ride in one of the beloved
gondolas, an image which has become synonymous with Venice's
romantic atmosphere.
The city is also rich in history, and numerous art galleries,
museums, and landmarks call Venice home. A few of the famous
sites are the Basilica San Marco (an immense cathedral named
after the patron Saint Mark), Palazzo Ducale (an elegant waterfront
palace), and Piazza San Marco (Venice's most famous square).
Thirteenth to 19th-century architecture reigns over the city
and 20th-century buildings are pleasantly rare. Fine cuisine
is never hard to come by here, with so many excellent restaurants
serving delicious Italian food. Whether for its canals, its
cathedrals, or its cannelloni, Venice has quickly become a favorite
city in which to learn Italian.

| "The one
month of Italian was very effective. I was able to pick
up the language relatively quickly. The teachers answered
any questions I had thoroughly until they were sure we
understood the subject. I found learning Italian to be
a fun and rewarding experience. It was overall a success
in my opinion. |

| “I really like learning Italian here. There are wonderful and enthusiastic teachers and the lessons are well-balanced between grammar and communication. I never get bored! The activities during the afternoon are very interesting and we learn to love Venice.” |
Marit

|
| “I've really learned a lot in these two weeks. I think that to have class with people from other countries is a great opportunity. The activities in the afternoon have also been very amusing. I haven't only studied Italian but I've also learned much more. I've lived the so called "dolce vita" and I've known the Italian culture. I would really come back again.” |
Kayoko e Hiroharu

| “In 2000 we came for the first time in Italy. Five years have passed and since then we come to this school almost every year, and we have Italian pen pals we met at school...At first we found it difficult, but step by step we are learning and it's a big satisfaction! We had the opportunity to meet people coming from all over the world.” |

|
| "The instructors were helpful and made the class and the learning experience fun. While frustrating at first, I thought that "Italian only" approach was excellent in providing the environment one needs to successfully learn the language and further encourages one to speak and think in Italian. I enjoyed the experience immensely.” |
John

|
| "I can honestly say I learned a lot more than I expected and that my oral and written skills have left me confident in doing everyday activities. The teachers were always willing to answer our questions and were of curse a lot of fun. Total immersion into the language was at first a struggle but it definitely paid off in the end and the discussions we had in class were very helpful for practicing Italian.” |
