While in Málaga, you will get to know the city, the surrounding
regions of Andalusia, as well as the local people and their
customs. You will also have the opportunity to meet your fellow
students from around the world, and participate in activities
with them. Play your favorite sport, listen to opera, dance
to flamenco, or walk in the mountains— whatever your interest,
it’s all easily available in Málaga.
The activities department organizes many events and activities
and provides you with the information you need to participate.
They also boast an extensive resource library of information
about restaurants, bars, music clubs, and other ways to have
a good time in Málaga.
Golf
The Costa del Sol has Europe's highest concentration
of golf courses with some 40 courses within half
an hour to a couple of hours by car. Some of these
are championship level, while others are more suited
to the beginner or intermediate player. The school
can provide you with information and also help to
arrange lessons with a "golf pro" at one
of the courses.
Tennis and Athletic Club
A short taxi-ride brings you to the Club Deportivo
Calderón, a past Davis Cup venue. The club
offers outstanding facilities for tennis (hard and
clay court) and paddle tennis, along with aerobics,
martial arts and other fitness options. Thanks to
the school’s club membership, you can enjoy
it all at highly reduced rates.
Hiking
A short half an hour car ride finds you in the Montes
of Málaga, where you can walk for hours through
forests and along trails in the National Park.
Jogging and Walking
The promenade that stretches for over 7 km (4.5
miles) from the center of Málaga creates
an enticing track for jogging and walking enthusiasts.
In many places, there is a special compacted-sand
track on the beach itself. A public park in the
extensive woodland area behind the school gives
another opportunity to take pleasant strolls and
take in some spectacular sea views.
Granada
The principal objective of this excursion is to
visit the Alhambra, the great Moorish fortress and
palace overlooking the city of Granada. This is
one of the great architectural triumphs of the eight
hundred years of occupation of Andalusia by the
Moors from North Africa.
Sevilla
The Andalusian capital has a wealth of monumental
architecture and places of interest. The excursion
includes a visit to the Catedrál, the Giralda,
los Reales Alcazares, the Plaza de España,
and the barrio Santa Cruz.
Córdoba
Córdoba is a beautiful walled-city with the
"Mezquita"—part Arabic mosque and
part Christian cathedral—at its heart. Cordoba
tells much about the splendor of Arab Andalusian
culture, as it was once one of the most important
cities in the Islamic world.
Morocco
Weekend excursions to Morocco provide the chance
to see first-hand the influence of this North African
country on the traditions, way of life, and architectural
heritage of Andalusia and Málaga today. Imagine
visiting Africa while living in Spain...it's only
a ferry-ride away!
