Valencia |

Valencia overlooks the Gulf of Valencia on the Costa Blanca
portion of Spain’s Mediterranean coast. The third largest
city in the country, Valencia is best known for its white sandy
beaches, ideal weather, and beautiful gardens—earning
it the name the “Land of the Flowers.” The city
is one of the largest remaining historical centers in Europe;
it was the economic and cultural capital of the Mediterranean
in the 14th and 15th centuries, as evidenced by its ancient
Roman ruins and Moorish and Gothic architecture. In stark contrast
is the remarkable City of Arts and Sciences, a futuristic mini-city
within Valencia.
In addition to its natural beauty and cultural wealth, Valencia
has a social scene that’s second-to-none. The city’s
vibrant nightlife and frequent festivals entertain year-round,
but people from all over the world pour in for the Fallas celebrations
in March, which feature firework displays, bonfires, processionals,
and large parties. Whether you come for the festivities, the
history, the culture, or the weather, Valencia is an ideal place
to learn Spanish.

and it rarely gets above 95°F (35°C), but the
humidity is high. In the autumn and winter it stays between
