Located on the shores of Lake Geneva at the foot of the Alps, Montreux is the pearl of the Swiss Riviera. The colorful, palm-lined lake promenade offers up such treasures as coves perfect for bathing, terraces and restaurants with breath-taking views, and an impressive 13th-century castle.
The magnificent Alps are a paradise for skiers, mountain bikers, rock climbers, and other sports enthusiasts. The enchanting mountain scenery can be experienced via hiking trails or by train. If wine or chocolate is your weakness, a visit to the vineyards of Lavaux or the local chocolate-maker is a must.
In the summer, Montreux’s world-famous annual jazz festival,
headlining such big names as Santana, Sting, and B.B. King,
is not to be missed. Clubs, bars, and theater provide an active
nightlife year-round. This charming town of 20,000 is easy to
navigate by foot or bus and extends a warm welcome to visitors
from the world over.
